Sixties: A Closer Look

Jan 04, 2025,20:32 PM

This is the only watch I’ve ever owned where, when you study its profile from the mid-case, you can actually see the side of the 21k gold rotor. Maybe it’s just me , but I just spent the last 5 minutes admiring this unique feature. And it’s really cool! It’s clear GO took some extra time here to allow its owner to admire the manufacturer movement from an entirely new perspective. Flipping the watch over, at first glance, one sees the simple, uncluttered dial. But there is so much more to appreciate upon closer inspection! Check out the domed dial, and then the curved minutes and seconds hands that flawlessly mirror the edge of the domed dial. The last surprise is really special. Look at the indices. Those are actually negative space. Not printed, not applied, but masterfully and carefully milled into the dial. When the light catches just right you can see the mirror polish of the indices glistening in the sun. A simple watch at first glance, but look closer and you’ll discover its special charm!

Such a great watch. In general, I feel like Glashütte Original is that movie trope of the super attractive kid in college that is great at atheletics and academics, but doesn't realise how hot they are.

So interesting and never knew about it

I’m quite a GO fan myself and this watch is on my list. I also love it with a big date but prefer the 40mm version to the 42mm. Enjoy yours!

Appreciate your comments! Yes, the 42 mm (with cool PanoDate feature) is too large for my 7 inch wrist. Mine is the 39 mm and it fits quite well , especially due to the compact lug to lug measurement of approx 45 mm
