Wishing all that celebrate a happy lunar new year. ๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ Laureato 8010

Vacheron has their beautiful 222 from 1977. A few hundred pieces made only.

Girard-Perregaux has their Laureato 8010 from 1995. A few hundred pieces made only too. To compare apples and apples is not quite accurate but as this is the first laureato made by GP that is a mechanical automatic (cal 3100), I look at the 8010 as their rebirth into mechanical from quartz.

Anyway, letโ€™s not get pedantic about things. At a 36 mm case diameter and 7.9 mm thick itโ€™s a keeper of a rare bird. Tritium dial, white gold applied indices and hands, and the 100 meter water resistance is icing on the cake. The case and bracelet made by the same folks as AP Royal Oaks. Itโ€™s exquisite.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Laureato and Iโ€™m excited to have this iconic piece with me. It is with the Laureato 8010 that it all began mechanically for the GP Laureato.

Have you done a side-by-side with a modern one? This babyโ€™s dial looks so much more refined with the smaller clous de Parisโ€ฆso lovely! Howโ€™s the bracelet? Best E.

Thanks ๐Ÿฅฐ E

Itโ€™s a very special one โ€ฆ trust me when I say so. I know these inside and out. The dial size is 27 mm. Same as the current production 38 mm laureato. This dial, case, hands are all much more refined. As mentioned in my post, the case and bracelet was made...

Thanks Marc

Will search when I have better Internet connectionโ€ฆright now in Mainland China and things are slooowww. Have to admit I have a soft spot for things from 1975 and this being both its and my own 50th I have a feeling it might be the time for a Laureato of s...

They just should've matched the fonts of the numerals (12 and date) or maybe replace the 12 by a double marker (which I personally prefer). Have a nice lunar new year with your wife's family.

Thanks ๐Ÿค I personally think that

if they matched the font of the applied 12 to the date font, it would have looked contrived and a bit tacky. This current font used for the 12 allows the โ€œ2โ€ to be flush to the little pyramids hobnail pattern width-wise. The double marker would have made ...
