That?s true

I can?t share the background; i don?t know and information supply is a little less on these (for obvious reasons).

The most stunning fact is to see GP putting out so many limited editions in such high quantities (500 of the "BMW Oracle", 32 "Challenger Tourbillon", 500 of the steel Laureato, 40 of the RG Laureato, +30 Richeville perpetual chronos). If following the BMW Oracle things closely there may be one more limited edition to come, for the US-76 boat.
It?s a significant share of GP?s production and this strategy isn?t completely unknown; in times of the "Pour Ferrari", there have been so many pieces with only different dials that in the end a complete overview of what is current and what is past was hard to get.
Vice versa, the "hoopla" in the media referring to the BMW Oracle Racing models (and co-sponsoring was a very expensive move for GP) is very low if happening at all; at the same time, apart from the "Challenger Tourbillon" the new l.e. model is not a completely new or basically different model to what is available right now.

Given all new pieces are focussed on a bit more sporty look and somewhat unusual appearance, within the boundaries of the movements in use by GP, i?m not sure this is a new orientation of the brand.
Personally i do like the three-register Laureato a lot from the pictures, even if i?d imagine a more subtle piece with a slightly more understated approach would be a beauty either.

So i?m not sure where this is leading to.
Looking at the price tag, i find the "F40" not to be completely out of this world; it?s roughly the same price as the regular Laureato in Titanium on rubber. Given it?s a limited edition, technically different from the regular model, comes with the Ferrari insignia (still a selling point for some) and there?s a chance by far not all 500 pieces will be made (if they will do them at all), it?s kind of interesting. And it may be possible to get them at attractive prices; it?s not a secret list prices for GP timepieces don?t have much of a meaning, particularly in the US.

I?d wish there would be a classic model; something like a "simple" Vintage45 with a small second at 6, but a larger case and a refined movement that surpasses the competition in terms of decoration. And NOT with a module, which doesn?t allow to put on other than sunken date windows (so better omit this completely, as with the "F40").
Personally i believe GP is a classic brand and this model line is a flagship line for GP (like the Reverso for JLC), so GP shouldn?t neglect these and not only focus on "innovative looks".

We?ll see; if hearsay turns out to be true, there may be some more classic piece in 2006 (manual wind too, which really is missing in GP?s portfolio).

As frequently noted, GP is quite on the move.
I find this amazing and interesting and i?m very curious where GP will go to in the next years (i?m confident, too).

Greetings,

Peter

GP?s "secret" and last Ferrari editions, Laureato F40 / Richeville 250GTO

Dear GP fans, a little more input on the two limited editions, for sure the last "Pour Ferrari" pieces to be made and most probably a slightly "problematic" series. For our coverage on the two previous editions, please check here: The 2004 limited edition...

Thanks for the info ..... it sounds like the final split between GP and Ferrari ...

was a bit contentious and acrimonious. Whatever the feelings between the two organizations I think GP can fly on its own without the Prancing Horse tie-in. It has served its purpose but its time to move on.

That?s true

But strange that they should show it pubicly at KL than say you can't post a picture. Well anyway, we all know what it looks like and now we have the technical details. Now to go for the "hunt" cheers joe

I believe you mean F430, not F40
