SIHH 2019: Live shot of the Girard-Perregaux Bridges Cosmos

The new Masterpiece from Girard-Perregaux at the SIHH 2019 is called Bridges Cosmos which goes into their “Earth to Sky” theme.

Here is a live shot of this “horological monster”:

As you can see, it differs a bit from what we saw in the press material.

To me, this creation feels both new and familiar at the same time.

Maybe not that surprising…

Many of the GP signature elements are there to be recognized, but this is a new watch I never saw before!

but I wish there was a way to use the globe to tell the time rather than the dial with the two hands stuck at the top. These mini-dials are a tricky design element. Sometime they work like with the Breguet Tradition and sometime not so much. Amazing techn...

As you say, do not always work. Personally I like it better on this piece, centred, than when it's off to one side. But yes, to integrate time on one of the globes would been even more fantastic! Guess it is hard to make that and at the same time make it ...
