More special if you choose for him. More risky too. But it would hold more significance for me in the future if it was a watch my parents chose for me. Just my 2 cents. 🤝

I suggest you don’t overthink it
I’m sure he will love what you get for him. The main thing is that it is from you and his mother. So something rare and special could well become a family heirloom. Rather than a mass made Tag or Rolex etc. My final 2 cents. 😅
