Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk II, 4991 "To John Harrison"

Found this photo on my hard drive and got sentimental...

The Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk II "John Harrison, 4991 with white dial. Sadly, no longer with me, but replaced with a Sea Hawk II blue dial 4992.

The 42mm version was just a little bit too large for me, while the 40mm (Ref 4992) just fits perfectly.

But that white dial is still on my mind.

Unlike all other Sea Hawk IIs, the "John Harrison" came with a small seconds layout and interestingly, the steel versions had a white gold bezel insert. Not a common combination, but it gives the bezel a warm hue.

Perhaps I will find a white dial in 40mm one day, but it won't be a "John Harrison" as they only came in 42mm.

I've always admired the John Harrison edition. M4

I liked the watch very much but for what ever reason I sold it after about a year of ownership. Ever since I have been on the lookout for a rose gold white dial Seahawk. I am not 100% sure if one was ever made though, I have seen quite a few in yellow and...

Very nice white dial Sea Hawk, Tony.

I know, but it is not so much the size of the case

but the length of the lugs. They stick out on my wrist and I don't like that.
