Girard Perregaux 2024 Novelties: Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges / La Esmeralda Tourbillon A Secret Eternity Edition.

Well, two novelties, not really, as they rather are two new iterations.

Let's see them.

1/ Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges:

Here, you have a rose gold 44 mm case, 15, 35 mm high,  including the domed sapphire . High and big it is, but you have to deal with the automatic movement ( Cal GP 9400 ) with its 42 mm diameter and 9, 45 mm thickness. As we mention the movement it beats at 21, 600 vibrations per hour and has a good power reserve of 60 hours.

Who said that an automatic movement cannot be sublime?

The most important novelty here? The fact that the three rose gold bridges are PVD coated, bringing a touch of modernity in this classic environment. The superb detail? The PVD treatment enhances the beauty of the rose gold chamfers. Sublime.

Now, the PVD may not be to everyone's taste, here.

If I got it well, this Tourbillon with three flying bridges is not a limited edition, but at the price of... 180 000 Euros, I am not sure it will be massively produced...

2/ La Esmeralda Tourbillon A Secret Eternity Edition.

Another homage to the eponymous pocket watch from 1889.

Here we have a pink gold engraved and enameled case, whose dimensions are generous ( 43 mm big, 15, 10 mm high ). The automatic movement, the Cal GP 09600 is 32 mm big and 7, 68 mm high, with a power reserve of 50 hours.

The dial is a masterpiece in itself, hand guilloché and enameled with honey hues. Now, I wonder if I would not prefer it without these horses on the front... And also on the back.

The good idea? The hinged case back, allowing you to see the superb movement.

You got my feelings on this watch. Simpler would have been more my taste. It is a bot too " loaded " and sophisticated, not to say " mannered "...

And it comes at an even higher price: 472, 000 Euros. At that level of prices, I have other choice(s) and preference(s).

Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,

Best,

Nicolas

The second, despite its highly admirable and impressive execution, simply too much, just like you pointed out....

Yep, agreed...

Hmm, I’m really not sure what to say … All beautiful pieces. Haute horolgerie. GP is 2 companies on one … like many other Swiss brands. There are the “nicely” finished from one Dept (laurrwto etc) and then there are these from a different Dept. I think th...

A bit too busy. For that money, I would look at the Heliotourbillon from JLC

Way too much

Both designs are too much for me. Prices are even more so. No idea what are they thinking with these prices...

Same questions for me.
