A Venus 179 Girard-Perregaux reference
Here's one more (and probably last) thread concerning the Venus 179 split-second chronograph movement.
The Girard-Perregaux ref. 90170 is a 40 mm watch powered by the calibre Venus 179.
The examples below are in pink and white gold.

I have seen 2-3 for sale in 20 years
and they always go very quickiy. These are the epitome of GP from the 90s including some triple bridge tourbillons
I like the very classic design
with a wonderful movement. It’s a pity that these watches are so rare… Best, Emmanuel

Unfortunately, I didn't have much in my wallet in those days. Still remember it...

The calibre 9898 of this Minute Repeater Split-Second Chronograph Tourbillon
might be based on the Venus 179, but it's a very different movement given the additional complications (minute repeater and tourbillon). And it's definitely not "automatic"! The watch is listed here: https://www.monacolegendauctions.com/auction/exclusive-...
