A couple of AD visits to view the Girard Perregaux Laureato collection . . .

Jul 07, 2024,01:10 AM

First, the Wempe x Girard Perregaux collaboration:

Unfortunately, as much as I love this, it’s not a good fit:

With today’s visit, I thought GP was offering the copper dial in 42mm. Then, I realized it was the rose gold dial iteration:

Can’t see the date!

But, then I really became confused - a white dial 38mm Laureato!🤔

I figured this was NOS. But the sales associate said GP is slowly releasing different color options in 38mm. But I saw only the copper and the green ceramic in 38mm on GP’s site.🤷

These 38mm’s were discontinued. They brought it back with the copper dial and now green ceramic. I’m guessing this is a New Old Stock (NOS) piece despite what the SA stated.🥂

Awesome photos Mark, thanks for sharing!

The collaboration piece does more for me than the RG dial, but then again, I’m not there to see it in the metal like you. I owned that very white dial 38 mm Laureato. It was cool, but I didn’t end up bonding with it. Will let our resident GP expert Singap...

Hey Mark, thanks for sharing.

Questions: - the 42mm looks like it wears big, was that your impression? - what’s up with those sub dials - i do like that dial color The 38mm look great on you, what were your thoughts overall?

I prefer the 38mm size, especially in the copper dial variant.

If the collaboration was 40mm, then it’s “take my money!” I’m still hoping that GP puts some effort into their Vintage 1945 line! Thanks, Larry!🥂

The copper was the cat’s meow.

Thanks for posting all those lovely watch shots, that would have been a dangerous adventure for me.

Love the wempe GP

If it was opened, I was there, mon ami!

Some boutiques / ADs took an extended holiday break. Others simply didn’t have what I was looking for or I couldn’t get a great shot due to lighting conditions.

The Wempe one in 40mm❣️🤩 There wouldbe easily place fot it!

My strategy for this - wait and see… 😅

Which Wempe one is in 40 mm?

 By: SingaporeMarc : July 8th, 2024-14:01

Ah, I will understand now.

News to me …

 By: SingaporeMarc : July 7th, 2024-13:27
I have not heard of GP releasing the steel 38 mm again in dial colors blue, black, silver and grey. Anything is possible… it would be news to me. 🤝

Maybe a sales tactic by the sales person

 By: Aquaracer1 : July 7th, 2024-18:14
To display white dial 38 mm as “just in!” Instead of it’s been sitting around for awhile and hasn’t sold yet (NOS). I’m almost sure it’s the latter. Although wouldn’t it be cool if GP listened to their customers and released some more new 38 mm!? ...

I’m going to give the SA the benefit of the doubt and say he was mistaken!

 By: Mach : July 7th, 2024-18:48
But, you and I are on the same page, Jesse! I’m placing my bet that that was NOS.

Then I shall do the same

 By: Aquaracer1 : July 7th, 2024-18:56
And give the SA the benefit of the doubt, that he was mistaken! Hope you have a wonderful Sunday afternoon Mark!

Exactly , 😂🍻

😀 possibly and probably…

GP reduced the product offering for a reason … way too many variants. But could they discontinue the 42 mm and bring back the 38 mm? Yes, it’s possible. Especially with the 50th anniversary coming out in next year.

Wouldn’t THAT be something !

Very interested to see if they reintroduce any other dial colors outside of the standard black, blue, grey and white - In 38 mm!

Strange if it was NOS

 By: SingaporeMarc : July 8th, 2024-13:56
It would have been sold a long time ago. 2+ years is a long time since the 38 mm was discontinued. It’s also has the 1791 instead of the single bridge on the dial which implies NOS. So I’m not sure what is going on here … 🤷🏻‍♂️
