BaselWorld 2016: Girard-Perregaux 1966, 50th Anniversary

Friends, The firework from Girard-Perregaux is far from over yet. Next up is the Girard-Perregaux 1966, 50 th Anniversary! As we all know during the 1950s and 1960s, Girard-Perregaux was a very active and successful period! A numerus of patents were achie...

Yes, Chronometer certified would have been a great addition on this one!

The movement do keep within the Chronometer specs, but "Officially Certified" would have been a nice Cherry on this cake! As for the dial, I don't feel it is too centered, but maybe that is just me... Best Blomman

Too bad...!

But luckily, there are many to choose from! Best Blomman

I actually quite like this one

I would normally not opt for the pink gold hands combination with white gold case, but here it works very well giving it a superb vintage appeal. Complaints? Not really, but here without date would have been my preference and a sunburst silver dial would ...

The combo of white and pink gives the watch better visability!

Normally not my favorite combo, but here it works very well! As for the date, the original came with date, so I don't mind it here... Best Blomman

I like the "1966" for what it is...

an unassuming dress watch-nothing fancy and therefor very elegant in its plainness, for want of a better description. The big dial with a slimmish bezel sets it apart from many other dress watches. The problem, for me, with this one is the advertising on ...

Agree that two anniversary on the dial is a bit much, but....

The "1791" is a re-entered detail that GP had on the dial on-and-off for many years... Not sure if they will keep it but I suspect we will see the "1791" for some time/years to come. Here is a ad from 1950 that shows this: And zoomed in, we see the number...

So by itself that looks pretty nice.

Re-thinking this I would object to the "50th"...and having both anniversaries on the dial. But the 1791, by itself, is not objectionable at all. Good point, Blomman.

Yes, to have the 50th on the back would have been a nice option....

Let's hope GP hear us and rethink for the next anniversary! Best Blomman
