Interesting how Icon’s get defined. For most brands it’s a model within their collections, AP/RO for example. In the case of GP, I’d make the case that it’s this movement architecture even more so than say the Laureato again for example. How many brands can you name are recognized for their movement design for what, 150+ years? It’s doubly interesting that while having no functional value in a wristwatch, how Tourbillons are still mesmerizing. I can’t take my eyes off it and would love to own one with 3 bridges. Unfortunately, I’d never get permission from ‘she who must be obeyed’ and sacrificing my other pieces to raise funds for one….I haven’t got the fortitude for that! My Mom, long since gone used to say ‘never sell one thing to buy another’, that I ignored many times over. This is one occasion I’ll be taking her advice.
