YG vs RG - What's your preference?
I miss the YG dial. I completely understand the rationale for discontinuing them once movements were produced in gold instead of brass. With that said those YG dials were special. Early ones were more champagne in color, later ones more yellow. Early advertisements always showed the yg dial but this has since changed to wg. For some reason the RG doesn't have the same affect on me. Either they are too pink and salmon color which doesn't match well with my skin. I think Journe has been very smart not to introduce to many dial combinations. The focus continues to be on precision time keeping with dial design an integral part. Just changing the dial each year would not be very innovative and can be dilutive to the model. I have two versions of the YG dial in my collection; a resonance and octa lune. I never really considered the YG dial until I put it on the wrist. Classic example of seeing it in the metal and on the wrist instead of just in the catalogue. I enjoy both very much.
