. . . my latest cue. Ebony over gonçalvo alves, a Brazilian timber that was reputedly Jerry Franklin's favored handle wood for its playing properties.
Franklin (gone for many years now) founded Southwest Cues. He's considered the best of contemporary cue-makers; his playing cues trade in the same range as Balabushkas and Szambotis. Gonçalvo alves was his preferred wood, and this is the first one-piece cue Bob has made from it. Purpleheart pro-taper shaft, ultra-soft tip, special trim . . . this one's turning out to be my best to date.
You can play a rack or three with it at the nearby pool hall ;-) . . .
