Enjoying a weekend in Austria also means local food. While I even wisely stick to starter and main only (without a light dessert or Kaiserschmarren or the like 😉) it was a hit and miss whether I would be able to rise from the table.

The greetings from the kitchen were snatched away before I had a chance to take a proper picture, let alone try them 😉

A modern interpretation of the Austrian delicacy alluded to in the title - the deep fried calf brain on a chanterelle carpaccio…

And a light (eeerm) main of venison steak with chestnuts, bread dumplings, red cabbage and chanterelle sauce…

They didn’t portion this nouvelle cuisine style either.

Now I am wondering if I will sink to the bottom of the pool like a stone if I try entering 😂🤷🏻‍♂️
