Lasting impressions from Lagavulin 16 since my New Years Eve party: what a drink! ...

Love this..

but then i discovered the Lagavulin 8 years and i love it much more.

That one and The Destiller's edition are on my shopping list

But first The Distiller's … or another 16 first again ?

Love it.

I prefer Speyside distilleries but whenever I want a dram with real bite...

yes!

 By: @lberti : January 7th, 2019-11:29
very smokey....! would strongly suggest to try the 8Y, LE. Cheers, A.

But is it as sweet, malty as the 16 year old?

By: COUNT DE MONET : January 7th, 2019-12:16
More smoke/peat is fine for me but the sweetness is also important. The Destiller's Edition has more malt/sherry sweetness, I read.

I’m in!

Thank you for your recommendations.

LAG 16 & Distillers version have always been one of my favorites

 By: minutehand : January 7th, 2019-18:51
My current tow favorites ...

The Macalan 18 is certainly above my budget

By: COUNT DE MONET : January 8th, 2019-00:22
Above my budget for buying to try without having had a tasting first. The Laphroig is just in that budget 😀. Thank you for the tips.

Love it, but even more the Arberg 10 YO

How is the Uegedeal?

i didn't taste that one, but Jim did, so it must be heaven :)

 By: Bobbe : January 8th, 2019-09:54
In 2009, Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible named Ardbeg Uigeadail ‘World Whisky of the Year’ – in praise of its “utter silky brilliance” and “complexity on a level only a handful of distilleries in the world can even dream of reaching.”

There are apparently some very good whiskies under 100 Eu or $

I will surely try the Uegedeal and the 10.
