Mead

Many consider Wódka to be the national drink of Poland, but for centuries it was actually mead. Mead production almost died off during the communist regime, but started thriving once it fell. Today Poland’s meads are considered some of the best in the world. I was beyond excited to be able to find 2 fine examples in the US.

Polish mead is classified by how many parts it consists of. Dwójniak is two parts one water and the other honey. Typically these are sweet, think of it like a Tawny Port about 19% alcohol. Trójniak is one part honey and two parts water, similar to a Riesling at 13% alcohol.
Are there any mead lovers in this group? If so give these a try, the are worth it.
Smacznego,
Wojo
