It's a Rhone evening..

Had a dinner with some friends enjoying some stellar wines from the Northern Rhone region

The champers started the evening rolling nicely, but the standouts were the Hermitage Blanc from Chave, quite a different palate from the usual chardonnay with its complexity and honeyed notes, and the Guigal cote Rotie which was well in its drinking window with years to go----lovely fruit, lively ,well grained but soft tannins, very good length and enjoyable.
The port was the as good as any aged tawny can be
They went well with the cantonese cuisine
All in all,a very enjoyable repast

I do have Cote-Rotie from Guigal but my be beyond its prime. This old Pol Roger doe not bare the British Seal as a purveyor to the Crown as your bottle. ...

If my experience is anything to go by,

the Guigals should give you great pleasure even at this stage. The Winston Churchill ,that's a treat....would be interesting to see how it taste!
