Hi Gatsby

Both where 2014. It struck me for both that they would have benefited with more time. They needed lots of air and certainly not at their best potential. I think they where of a similar level of quality but my preference would to to the “Alter Ego” with a small edge.

Visited Chateau Lynch Bages many years ago, and I remained impressed with the quality of their wines. Alter Ego is a fantastic second label. Btw which vintage is that for Lynch Bages? I can’t see very clearly. My favorite from the chateau is the 90 vintag...

Very nice. I’ve found 2012 - 2016 Bordeaux requires and incredible amount of time in the decanter

2014 very good and 2015 and 2016 superb best in 2030+, but life is short so if I drink them young I decant 12- 24 hours before serving. Two great examples you enjoyed here and with a friend or companion there is nothing better. This weekend I had a 2000 L...

I think your remark about the long airing is spot on, Ed.

Especially the high quality bottles at this age. It would be better to have kept them but sometimes we are just too curious to leave them alone ;-) thank you for your tip regarding the years. I’m going to stock up again soon and I will remember this Very ...

My pleasure. 2016 if you have the patience is spectacular.

I don’t know if it’s global warming or if Bordeaux has gotten so good at adapting to weather variances and getting the most out of their wines, but many of the best recorded vintages in history are since 2000. So if we put the legendary 1961, 1982 and 199...
