Beautiful culture indeed! And that Panerai is also quite beautiful and fitting.

 

I enjoyed reading your story and seeing the pics. 

I never thougt that tea and watches would fit. But it looks great. But then, I love Panerai watches that are pretty simple with bare dials.. 

Tea in various forms is an art all unto its own. While I didn't learn about tea in Southeast Asia,
I learned about it living in Japan for 40 years. Each country has its own traditions and ways.

It's interesting to note that one rule in Japan during tea ceremonies is "no watches" (No jewelry, flashy, revealing clothes and fingernails too)..
Such things are said to distract from the whole event, which must be as simple and earthy as possible. 
It guess that rule makes sense since there weren't watches in the 1500s when the tea ceremony was refined in Japan.
Or that's the reason given. Anyway continue to  enjoy your tea and watch hobbies.
