I never say no to a very old piece of Gouda. IMO much better than Parmigiano. Enjoy. Best, Volker

French cheese is better when ripe

The Camembert doesn't look ripe, it should be bulging a little. There was a time in French restaurants when the cheese board came round after the meal, and the cheese was in tip top condition. Now you you often get a plate as in the picture.

Niiice ;).

Even if I am french I reckon Dutch are good at "hard cheese" (pate dure in French), whereas the "soft cheese" (pate molle in French) remain a French speciality ! Also agree with Sjlye, you can still find some restaurants with a proper cheese plateau even ...

The British love cheese too!

Many artisan & regional varieties in the UK. But the best cheese platter I ever tasted was in a Paris restaurant (cant remember its name - somewhere near St Germain) Cheers! G. ...
