Best I ever had was in Reims just outside the cathedral. We got into town ~ 15:00 ~ the waiter said “kitchen closed, chef having a coffee” but he thought maybe a salad was possible. Ten minutes later a fresh mound of lettuce with 6 fried sardines lined up...

Agreed on avoiding seed oils. Reading the label has now become as important as the other motto we can all relate, Trust your seller! Lol Cheers, my friend, Alex ...  

…but used to really like them as a kid (go figure). When I order Caesar salad at a good restaurant I insist on the anchovies : )

Sardines were a food I discovered in college because a late-night food mart had a prominent display up front, and I figured it was something I could eat without cooking. Believe it or not, I opened the first tin bracing for whole fish with heads and eyes,... 

Sardine, Tongue, Roast Beef over rye or simple toast are my college staple food.

Something on my to do list is a visit to Portugal and some canned fish. I have much to learn so what is this about vintage sardines? I didn’t know they aged well….
