just entering its drinking window, one of my favourite clarets

A bouquet of red fruits, mainly cherries and berries, with a hint of cassis. The palate opened with time with similar mid to full  body red fruit, supple well grained unobtrusive tannins with sufficient acidity and minerality giving it the required freshness.Quite a mouthful, without the development to come of secondary and tertiary notes of cedar, tobacco etc that would normally grace this pauillac at full maturity. Something to look forward to in five to ten years----but still a classical style claret in its youth.

It went well with a tomahawk steak and grilled lamb that was served

The '61 may give you a pleasant surprise, depending on the bottle, but i would drink this chateau.

A lovely post and well described - the nuances waiting in the background until the wine matures

With young Lynch Bages I found the 2018 quite something, if you can be patient enough for 15-20 years to even think about drinking.

Thanks
