You posted one of the few I would like to have; the WT in any configuration but particularly that dial has always been one that’s drawn me in.

But when I was making that move up the chain it wasn’t just Patek that left me wanting. Lange was too dull, save for the ZW. Vacheron wasn’t even on the radar. And AP, well, I had a Royal Oak and do that was that !
I am simplifying of course, but that’s pretty much where I was.

Why buy a boring Patek when…

…you could have bought something young and contemporary like this. This was the conclusion I came to many years ago when I wanted to “move up” the collecting ladder. The search for Patek led me to Journe. Thank you Thierry ! (This does not mean there are ...

Seems like some Patek customers are smartly finding higher-end brands more appealing.

The real question is, when are you getting an MB&F? 😎

Only one MB&F for me; the Frog.

Missed it a few times, hesitating on my side. And then prices went a little crazy. There are coming back to earth though, and while the chocolate frog is the ultimate aim I’d be ok with another.

Love the Frog

If I can’t make it to my bank vault tomorrow I will need to go Friday 🫶

Agreed

Completely agree. Aside from Journe's many innovations and unique design language, there is a lot of practicality built in, which makes wearing a Journe piece a pleasant and satisfying experience.

Specifically I like the relative thinness of Journe pieces, and the way his watches can be set through simple crown adjustments or toggle/rocker switches rather than pushers.

I understand. “Boring” was not the best choice of words, unless I was writing a headline and looking for reactions !

For me, it was a style / design / aesthetic. Patek veered a little too traditional on the dial side, and what I viewed as the more contemporary pieces at the time tended to be a little thicker. (Of course the 5711/5712 doesn’t get enough credit for how we...

Nice timing lol…

I just posted a Patek which I think it’s not that boring 😉

You're definitely not wrong!

Watch collecting shouldn't be restricted to one brand! Not even one medium. Watch collecting should be a lifestyle. Clocks at home. Mechanical watches on your wrist. Mechanical belt buckles around your waist. Mechanical cufflinks. A manual gearbox car... ...

Indeed Patrick. But…

…I still don’t see the attraction on the belt buckle. Maybe if I was single, it would or could be quite the party piece!

No worries at all!

Not everyone should like that belt buckle. Definitely a polarizing piece.

What a beautiful FPJ you got there!
