Well thank you so much for the photo credit! Obviously I love this watch as I bought it and wear it. The mauve colored dial just grabs me so much.

I have no problem with the weight as I don’t wear it every day but it feels so special when I do. Generally I don’t like real light watches but that’s just personal preference. I love the white metals also. I prefer the look without the rubber bits as to me it’s a tad less sporty and not quite as much going on. I have an early aluminum Centigraphe sport with the rubber bits and it’s fine but for this watch I prefer it a bit “cleaner. When I first saw the watch it was a very early one and I had doubts about the fly back rattrapante mechanism. It’s much improved now and is smooth and quick. I have no complaints about it. All in all an amazing watch and very rapidly becoming one of my very favorites!

The Rattrapante - let us hear your thoughts?

 By: ChristianDK : July 22nd, 2020-14:10
I have been thinking a lot about the rattrapante this summer. I always had a very keen eye on this watch but since we have seen the version without rubber inserts rolling out, my interest has returned I always had my eyes on the Pt with its lovely purple ...

More than brass, steel, or gold, but maybe not enough to matter?

I'm more curious about some previous posts regarding how well (or not) the second hands synch, stop, and reset. That said, I think the ti version looks awesome and I even like the rubber bumpers! 😋

I’ve played with a few and I didn’t notice this issue with those. It actually felt quite precise in operation.

It would be interesting to hear from owners if they have issues regarding this. Please chime in guys. Thank you for your comments 😃

My thoughts

 By: cmmnsens : July 22nd, 2020-14:59
I like the aesthetics of the PT model better (color and dial). But realistically the Ti version is more ‘livable’ for my lifestyle. Lightweight and darker finish. If only it had the same guilloche dial as the PT... then that would be perfect!

I think the platinum split is one of the best watches currently on the market

 By: NML77 : July 22nd, 2020-17:50
The combination of technical and aesthetics is very impressive in my opinion. The movement is beautiful and the dial is incredible. My preference is not having the rubber inserts but either way I think an all platinum bracelet is also a great feature and ...

I think I can follow why you prefer the Pt for this reference, Nik

 By: ChristianDK : July 23rd, 2020-00:05
A Rattrapante is something more delicate and refined. Where the Centigraphe is closer to the sports theme. I also think the Pt version is more immediately appealing in terms of aesthetics. Ed’s picture that I attached in my post, says it all I think. Howe...

Yes. I’m the same Alex. It’s also why I’ve started to turn my attention to the Ti

 By: ChristianDK : July 22nd, 2020-23:48
Right now my main concern is if I like the dial of the Ti enough. The “S” is bothering me a lot, to be honestly and I feel the main dial is missing some kind of nuance or refinement. Perhaps a texture?

they are stamped. [nt]

A couple of months ago I tried both the Ti and the Pt at the Boutique.

 By: ZSHSZ : July 22nd, 2020-15:22
I share your observations, the Platinum is much-much nicer, but weights a ton, I’m sure you can get used to it, but still too heavy or me(and I do like lefty pieces). The Titanium is a pleasure to wear, very unique moment design, but I didn’t like the res...

There is a bit of a Journe cult going on, honest assessment is a bit lacking ...

 By: als1678 : July 22nd, 2020-19:25
I share your observations. Mechanically Journe doesn't come close to the double split or patek rattrapante. The movement is vintage inspired, cool looking, but functionally mediocre.

Sorry, but my observations are different. The ones I have seen act very tight and precise.

 By: ChristianDK : July 23rd, 2020-07:07
I’m not sure what you mean by saying the movement is vintage inspired? Please explain as I am eager to learn more. There are not many fully integrated Rattrapante movements out there but I have never seen one that looks like this one.

You can take a look here, Venus is a good example.

www.hodinkee.com I have had a chance to play with the titanium one, definitely felt wobbly. Have heard the same from others. But of course you might have had a different experience. I am sure that adjustment matters. My understanding is that it is...

Thanks for your reply and link

 By: ChristianDK : July 24th, 2020-08:54
is it because it uses the clamp brake system you say it is vintage inspired? this is very a common system also used by Patek and most others. Its interesting that you compare it to Patek and Lange because I would claim that this one is better in some ways...

Thank you for for engaging in this discussion and keeping an open mind. I don't disagree with the points that you are making..

 By: als1678 : July 24th, 2020-15:31
It is easier for me to refer you to the movement section of the SJX article watchesbysjx.com l Which has close up pictures and comparison with PP CHR 29-535 PS. I would agree that the PP is more modular in nature , thicker, but also functionally super...

The heft is what gives me a bit of doubt as well, but I’m normally more sensitive about that the most.

 By: ChristianDK : July 23rd, 2020-07:00
I do find the dial of the Ti a bit lacking though. Somehow the Pt feels a bit more coherent with Rattrapante. I’m surprised you say that it didn’t reset probably. I have played with 4-5 sample and my observation was how nice and precise it was it terms of...

I lack an in-depth knowledge of these references.

 By: BigAppleBill : July 22nd, 2020-16:16
So I would only add that I really prefer the open work seen through the subdials on the Ti version. Also, prefer Ti for the lightness and toughness because it is a sports watch after all. But they’re all gorgeous little machines, so there’s really no bad ...

An other point for the Ti.

 By: ChristianDK : July 23rd, 2020-07:09
First time I hear that point about the apertures in the subdials. I do see your point though. 😊 thanks for chiming in.

For me, the guilloche on the platinum version is a very important part of the design, helping to visually separate the different elements, increasing legibility and calm.

 By: LK : July 22nd, 2020-16:35
Besides, making such a watch in platinum and rubber embraces the idea that no, this isn't really attempting to be an ideal sports watch -- for that we can shave many zeros off the price -- this is more sports watch as art form.

Great analysis of the dial

 By: ChristianDK : July 23rd, 2020-07:16
It’s not mere decoration but the decoration of the dial serves a purpose and helps the legibility. Probably why the Pt dial just “speaks” more to me. And you are absolutely right. This isn’t a true sports watch. More of a luxury watch on a bracelet. The P...

I have the gold w inserts.

 By: shafran : July 22nd, 2020-18:47
you can't go wrong with either choice.i love the open work ti and the purple dial plat. But i do prefer the rubber inserts. Makes it sportier

Yours is truly Beautiful. And it suits you really well.

 By: ChristianDK : July 23rd, 2020-07:24
I if I could steal your dial and put it in the Ti I would be happy 😆 The rubber vs not rubber is definitely a two camps discussion. A bit like the good old chocolate vs vanilla discussion. I can see how it makes the watch more sporty and also unusual. I j...

No issues.

I guess I am lucky.

Naa, I think that is to be expected

So happy to hear that yours is working as it should, thank you for chiming in, my friend!

I think both are amazing watches and i would love to handle one at some point.

If i had to pick one it would be the platinum i guess . Love that dial and case combo

Sounds like a great plan my friend 🤗

1. The mechanism is not as good as PP or AL. I posted my comments and you can review if you like. But since this topic is to choose from one of the FP rattrapante so I think nothing to discuss here. 2. I would say if you occasionally wear it than I recomm...

Thank you so much Dustin

i reread your former review. thanks a lot! great work, even if I didnt agree completely with all your points. 1. Im not sure why you consider the PP and ALS better. I perhaps got the impression that the complexity of these movements made a bigger impressi...

Mine is my sporty watch.

 By: shafran : July 27th, 2020-18:21
I think it can be worn every day. I just like to rotate with my other watches. I also think it is as nice as the patek and ALS, but also less expensive.

👍😊 [nt]
