Thank you for posting this, Viken.
I think, no matter what people think of the writing style, being puff ect, there are some valid and important points.
To recap a few…
Reconfirming that he will not increase production numbers but will increase complicated watches and move away from simpler models. I think it makes sense as this is where the waitlists are longest and where he can demonstrate his ideas more clearly. Costumers are ready for this in a way they were not five years ago.
Having produced a total of (my guesstimate @ 15000 pieces) there is a growing increase for a bigger service department. Growing every year. Some of us have talked about this inherent logic for a while and it is finally addressed officially. Servicing is super important. Especially with very complicated movements this requires time and qualified watch makers.
The new heritage building sounds very interesting 😉
His unhappiness and concern about the explosion in auction prices that caters to speculation rather than collectors. In relation to this he is quite candid about his view of this big spring auction focused solely on FPJ. I sensed it but now he states his opinions in a clearer way.
Very honest about the difficulties with coming up with new and meaningful ideas. Or many would be this honest.
Finally, his concern about how the brand continues after he is gone. That his work and name is not to be milked on the stock exchange but on the other hand needs a professional ownership with long term goals and values.
