My first F.P. Journe...

I started my trip down the rabbit hole today with F.P. Journe. I purchased a Chronometre Souverain, a timepiece that IMHO is strikingly simple, but distinctively stunning. The clean appearance of the dial is refreshing and classic. The use of Arabic numerals, which nicely taper towards 7 o’clock to accommodate the running seconds subsidiary dial, a railroad track minute scale and a power reserve gauge at 3 o’clock, the dial just works in its simplicity. The clean look of the dial is completed with the use of F.P. Journe’s drop shape hands.

These dials are rather special and go through a number of processes to achieve this simple yet highly sophisticated appearance. The dials are sanded down to create a perfect base, to which then a silver layer is applied. The numbers are then surfaced with a diamond tool making them seem like mirrors on the dial. The last operation is the pad print technique transfer for the time indications and the F.P.Journe logo which requires up to 5 successive layers to create that perfect shape. The result - an absolutely stunning dial with a slight off-white hue with numerals that are raised from the dial and not applied.

I am enjoying this watch to the fullest and look forward to the day I can add another FPJ to the collection.

Journe has always done such a wonderful job with clean yet distinct dial designs. But for me it's these amazing hands that take it to another level. Such a lovely shape!

To me this piece would have been also been worn in 1815 in America, if there would have been wrist watches at the time.

It looks like a piece, a director of a mining company or from a train company would have worn. Congrats to such a lovely watch!

Congratulations on a great watch.

Congratulations and enjoy your new piece. I went through the same process two months ago and arrived at exactly the same piece as yours. Just the perfect entry-level to the brand. Hope we can both add more in the near future!

Congrats!

The FPJ 🦠 is one you’d be happy to be infected with, albeit not good for the bank account 🤪

It is a deep green, not hunter, olive or kelly.

I’m a big fan of this dial (and it’s predecessor) on the CS. So simple, and beautiful. It’s also extremely versatile which is another big attraction for me.

Elegant
