Huge Result for Resonance at Christie’s HK

 By: Jay (Eire) : November 27th, 2019-01:00
The below 38mm PT Resonance from around 2000 with full box and papers just sold for HKD 2,000,000 (including buyers premium). That’s a quarter of a million USD. It seems like an amazing result. And while one auction result doesn’t provide colour on any si...

Awesome result!

The auction was amazing. Didn't even have a chance to bid as price just soars pass my budget. lol

Must be a record for a Resonance.

And one of the top results for any Journe at auction period.

Crazy! [nt]

My reaction too.

 By: Jay (Eire) : November 27th, 2019-03:06
I wonder if the fact that it was a very early production (c.2000) drove the price so high. It would make sense from a collector perspective, to want the earliest possible piece. However, the dial did not seem the most desirable in terms of how it aged and...

Just look at what the Souscription had fetched in the past...

 By: CL : November 27th, 2019-07:00
one at near $300k and another one at above $400k. Anything from year 1999 tourbillon to year 2000 Resonance are ultra hot.

Amazing!

 By: ChristianDK : November 27th, 2019-04:40
I am a little surprised at this price point.

Me too. But a significant result for Journe.

 By: Jay (Eire) : November 27th, 2019-04:55
We don’t see many Indies reach these levels, especially considering that this is not a traditional grand complication, piece unique etc. Personally I think this reinforces what I always believed regarding the Resonance; that it is THE signature Journe. (A...

+1 Jay!

 By: ChristianDK : November 28th, 2019-10:31
One day it will go this high. But not yet. Purely my thoughts and feelings.

Unbelievable Result...

 By: IndieFan : November 27th, 2019-07:00
This was the record breaking piece that sold just so you can take a closer look at the patina etc. And here was the result without the premium (SOLD to a bidder on the phone)... ...

Just crazy

 By: mahesh : November 27th, 2019-10:19
Almost 3 to 4 months earlier I was offered the same config from 2000 at half the price... World is crazier than we imagine!

Seems like a very good thing for FPJ

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : November 27th, 2019-16:40
Hopefully boosts prestige and demand for the brand. Not the greatest thing for watch buyers and watchpros. Although, anything that keeps FPJ afloat and independent is good. LF, De Bethune, Lang and Heyne, and others are struggling, so it is nice to see FP...

Very well said...

FPJ is truly a living legend. I'm staring at the Prototype Octa in the coming auction. It will break new record for Octa.

The scratch on the crystal isn't great ;(

 By: IndieFan : November 27th, 2019-20:02
This is a photo of the prototype if you're interested... ...

Awesome... I want this piece

 By: CL : November 27th, 2019-21:11
Everyone please stay away :P

It will be too difficult...

 By: CL : November 28th, 2019-08:12
I am planning to bid on this but I was told the private action on this piece is already blowing up high... a new record is coming and I'm certain I will not be able to get it.

No harm in bidding if you intende to buy.

 By: ChristianDK : November 28th, 2019-10:29
I’m not surprised if there is someone ready to fight for it though. How far do you think it will go? Above 100? It’s possible!

Yes, very very likely it will go through the roof!

 By: ChristianDK : November 27th, 2019-20:11
I’m sure the Resonance in HK will boost it even further.

+1. True words. [nt]

 By: ChristianDK : November 27th, 2019-20:15

simplicity

 By: vuillaume : November 27th, 2019-21:32
The wg 37mm dufour simplicity went for about the same amount at 2,062,500HKD. Crazy!!!

To me, it’s the sort of thing that happens at auctions once in a while

 By: ChristianDK : November 27th, 2019-23:21
It doesn’t reflect a general market price for this watch.

100% agree.

 By: Jay (Eire) : November 28th, 2019-03:35
Auctions are funny places, often unusual results. The amounts of times I’ve kicked myself for not being up when HK was live and missing great pieces at really low prices!

Yes, it can certainly go the other way as well.

 By: ChristianDK : November 28th, 2019-04:44
Ive had the exact same after thought.

This morning when I woke up...

 By: CL : November 29th, 2019-08:19
I kinda made a very radical decision about the fate of my Journe Tourbillon. It will be an experiment :P I won't be posting the watch here anymore due to the rule (which makes total sense) but if the experiment succeeds, I will share the process here one ...

you certainly have me puzzeled now...

 By: ChristianDK : November 29th, 2019-10:41
Is it: You have decided to lend it to your favorite FPJ moderator for an unlimited period - in this case, it sounds like a very interesting and important experiment. Please let me know how I can assist further ...!! It is not: Just keep posting as usual, ...

hahaha... You already have a great watch.

 By: CL : November 29th, 2019-17:42
I am sure you enjoy yours every moment . I just ordered a new watch from VC :P

Just be sure you won’t regret letting it go

 By: ChristianDK : November 29th, 2019-18:05
Im guessing that is your idea. Yours is so special and you can’t reverse your decision once it is done.. I know you are an adult and have had some amazing watches go through your collection. Still... What did you order from VC?

I ordered the CDV 1955 Steel :-)

 By: CL : November 30th, 2019-08:16
but It will take a while before I will receive. I know what you mean. I had let go quite a few good watches before and never see them again. I have this 'sickness' of wanting to wear all my watches regularly. When any watch I start to feel the pressure of...

my plan is to talk you out if it... ;-) :-)

 By: ChristianDK : November 30th, 2019-10:07
You just dont let a FPJ Tourbillon from 1999 go to fund an other watch. Then something else in the collection will have to go. I fear, you will regret it forever after. I really sympathise with your sentiment about wearing all your watches, because I am b...

It does seem like a decision that deserves a reasonable period of true consideration as Christian suggests.

 By: Jay (Eire) : November 30th, 2019-12:07
We can be fairly certain these are watches going one direction in terms of demand and pricing. Replacement cost will be painful to swallow if it comes to that.

Nod Nod...

 By: CL : November 30th, 2019-14:46
I am glad I came here to seek help

Sorry...

 By: CL : November 30th, 2019-14:45
I'm not trying to let go the Journe Tourbillon to fund the VC GDV. Two separate matters but also related. I wanted a watch that I like and can wear often without the pressure. I will listen to you. I am going to photograph the Tourbillon in meticulous det...
