Sell FPJ Resonance for PP5970?

Hi all. Given the recent increase in Resonance market, I was considering seeking a new home for my Salmon dial Platinum model in order to get within touching distance of my Grail, the Patek 5970 (am still undecided on colour so all views would help...). W...

This is a tough one...

There is a reason this one and other models are doing exceptionally well. It really depends how you like this but if you already said the 5970 is your grail, then why not? Maybe best is let the auction house sell it for you and you might be able to buy 3 ...

And check the Auction House’s fees.

They are making a killing, literally, on commission.

I would try to find a way to do both...

...but I know that isn't always an option. But a grail is a grail after all...so if the FPJ isn't your grail watch the choice seems easy.

+1

And I perfectly understand you because the 5970 is also my grail 😅

I wouldn't, but this isn't about me

There's a value at which that Journe made sense to you to own--and it's looking like it could now fetch well above that value. No shame in using that change in the market to make a move!

I think the answer is in your question...

Yes. A grail is a grail. And if a 5970 is YOUR grail then it’s a great idea. Would I do it? Never. The Resonance is my grail and the PP 5970 just a very beautiful watch that I feel no desire to own. The answer is in your heart. Good luck 😃👍

A grail by definition should mean you’ll do anything, sell everything.

If you have to even think about it, and ask the question here, then I’m questioning if it’s truly a grail. Why are you hesitating?

The answer seems to lie in your question...

The Resonance is surely a beauty but personally I am totally charmed and hooked by the 5970 (but can't afford to take the plunge )

That would be a good move

Take advantage of these market prices for the Resonance. Both great watches, but when a not-so-rare Resonance is valued same or greater than a 5970 (also not-so-rare), I would say either the Resonance market is ahead of itself, or the 5970 market is laggi...

If I have to make a quick answer for you then it’s a no

Why? Well it’s simple. The Resonance means something to you — obviously. Once you cash it in its gone. You can never get it back at the same price without getting hit by auction houses dealers etc. Why don’t you just save up for the 5970 and be done with ...
