Watch by F.P. Journe, Richard Mille

Some folks say that FPJ Repeater is not as loud as Patek. One nneds to consider thar this watch is so special because how very thin it is at only 8.5mm and it is quite remarkable that F.P managed to create a minute repeater caliber 1408 that is only 4.5mm thick.

I guess it is expected then to have a little bit of the trade off. You have a thicker watch you will have bigger Echo and a bigger sound. The FPJ RM is thinner, so it is not as loud.

I never had a chance to hear Patek repeater but I still own JLC Reverso Repeater. It is a preety small watch and I would say that they are at the about same level when it comes to the loudness,....(FPJ being significantly more *musical* and somewhat nicer sounding)

Here is the link to the video file in my Dropbox folder....hope it works:

with a full time count rather than a 1:01 setting! Congratulations again. Truly special.

Thanks for sharing your MR in action!

The sound is different from the MR I've heard until now (vintage Vacheron, Patek and Chopard Full Strike), but very satisfying. The gongs usually follow the inner curve of the case. I wonder how they are placed here. Thank you again for this very nice exp...

I’m inclined to agree here.

This Journe MR is technically impressive, and as the happy owner of 3 FPJs with a 4th one arriving in the next month or so I’m a huge fan of the brand. Having said that the focus of a minute repeater is on the sound quality. I have a Breguet MR which whil...

Okay. But I am wondering what he was referencing by calling it "technically impressive"

To me, that implies there is something special about tech/materials/etc that went into it. Not just that it is comfortable.

Probably because its *THIN* not just comfortable (which of course comes with a 'thin' watch)

...... not sure about others, but *to me* it's technically impressive that at point of its introduction it was the thinnest minute repeater in the world... I think it was overtaken by two other brands since, but it's still one of the thinnest Minute Repea...

As far as I know there are at least 4 MR's that are thinner;

Minute repeater complication interests me very much but not in conjunction with any of those four brands, for whatever reason..... Digging all the calibers but not too crazy abouout the dial side of those 4 watches as much. But as they say in the used car...

Beautiful watching beautiful sound ....but it is so thick..

Sounds very nice but I guess it is because the sound chamber is quite large. At 16.3mm thick....it's twice as thick as FPJ. I guess when it comes to repeaters it's difficult to have the cake and eat it too ...

Looks great, sound great!

Thanks for sharing! I remember it was a bit on the softer side when I tried it many years ago... ...
