That exact thing happened to me ....

Mar 02, 2020,13:29 PM

I was paying the attendant at a parking lot in a university town: he looked smart but scruffy and was definitely not WIS. As he gave me change, he said: "Hey, nice watch!." No other stranger has ever said that to me in 13+ years of watch collecting. The watch was ... also a RG CS!

Something happened today

that is so rare I cannot remember it ever happening before. I was making a bank deposit at a drive/through window and the teller, who was unlikely even 25, noticed my CS and commented that it was a gorgeous watch. He did not identify himself as a WIS. He ...

Did he know the brand? Or did he just like how it looked?

Just curious if it has become a brand people recognize. I once had a student at the university where I did some part time teaching, who recognized my CS. But he was definitely a WIS. The other day you bought a CS, and now you bought an electric guitar!? Y...

He didn’t identify the brand.

The guitar is not new. And the CS is 2 months old. It’s an old-timer. (😂)

“Old timer” LOL

I guess he just saw what we see as well. As super beautiful time piece without a recognizable brand. Mine have gotten several complements from people who didn’t have a clue what it was.

It’s running fine. [nt]

It IS a gorgeous watch! What a nice feeling.

I think the beauty and quality of your CS is easily identifiable even by a non-WIS. Plus the uniqueness of the dial. Great watch!

So it seems.

And it was a nice feeling, even though I truly prefer (I thought) that people don't notice what I wear.

+1 [nt]

Ta-da!

I guess we aren't the only ones who know beauty when we see it!

How large was the deposit and do you think that influenced his comment.

If you were just depositing your jar of copper coins then most likely not! It’s a rare occurrence really. I think the most noticed watch I ever owned was my PAM 190 (Radiomir, 45mm, gold hands). I must have had 5 or 6 no WIS strangers comment on that watc...

Small potatoes.

And he saw the watch before he saw the check. Tell FP when you see him tonight!

Yes, its a rare interesting moment when someone who doesn't seem to be a serious watch person compliments a nice watch.

I remember taking my bird to the vet and as the receptionist was placing us in an exam room she suddenly blurted out OMG THAT Is a Beautiful Watch! It was a UN annual cal chronograph, white dial on bracelet. BTW, that IS a gorgeous FP Journe!

It’s funny how that happens.

Where you would never expect it. And thanks, IDBOT.

I’m not sure about the “IDBOT “.

InDebtButOnTime is a lot, though.

Hmm 🧐

Maybe I can blame my CTS on your name. TheMadDruid vs. WatchProSite and InDebtButOnTime; John and Jane Does; their Successors and Assigns. I think I just aggravated the condition.
