What a good job to get seemingly candid answers from the man himself. To have solutions chosen explained helps me always to better understand the watches. This creates interest, "objects" becoming results of the conviction and taste of a master.

A conversation with Mr Journe at the Manufacture F.P. Journe, March 2019

 By: ChristianDK : April 1st, 2019-10:43
The following is a part of a longer conversation during a meeting between Mr Journe and myself as I was, at the end of the day, very kindly offered the opportunity to ask him a few questions. I of course grabbed this chance and asked him about where the c...

The opportunity was offered unexpectedly - but was certainly not to be missed

Superb job! Feedback from the man himself

Is always pleasant to read, and illuminating in ways that press releases are not. Bravo! Cazalea

Thank you so much, Mike :-)

A compliment from you means a lot since you are the master. Some of the best and most interesting interviews I’ve read on this site have been from your hand. Christian

Wow...you nailed it Christian!

excellent questions & a very wonderful read. appreciate the work behind this! New escapement - sounds fascinating... One question, why is on his wrist?! Best, Mahesh.,

Thank you so much , dear friend :-)

 By: ChristianDK : April 1st, 2019-12:48
Great question - He was wearing the Tourbillon Vertical on a calf strap. I should have asked to take a picture of his wrist but I must admit I was a bit star struck. .

Completely understandable!

In Basel I was about to buy the book on Journe, then I left it with a thought - one day I’ll take a sign from him on it ! One never know what life has in store 😊

Your thoughts are usually quite good, Mahesh :-)

Now that would be a very cool thing to have

Whoa! Really good interview!

1. What do we know about the Astronomie? 2. The new movement!!!!! Yes!!!! 3. If anyone wants to see a super crude, mysterious sketch of one of FPJ's watches in development, you're welcome to pm me.

Thank dear mr Pirate cat :-) The Astronomie

Is going to take over as the super complicated watch after the Grand Sonnerie. I heard something like more that a thousand parts. I guess the name hints what the complications will be about. Be prepared to be PM-ed

Awesome! [nt]

Some very interesting information here on several different product lines. BTW, am I the only one to be curious about a quartz complicated watch by FPJ?

I’m So glad you make that point - well spotted!

 By: ChristianDK : April 1st, 2019-13:01
I was told more detailed what it was about but asked not to write about it specifically. My guess is that he wants to be more certain he can solve the issues he mentioned before disclosing more. It was super interesting and If it works out I want one, for...

I still haven’t gotten over your T30 picture from today. I you ever get tired of it, then....,, ;-) Best Christian

Fantastic to have such an exclusivity! This is worth a lot.

The only sad thing was to notice that 38 is out for the foreseeable future. Thanks again Christian! Alex

My pleasure, Alex

Thank you for your nice post. I have to agree on the 38. However I am firm in my belief that the pendulum will swing back one day. I am wearing my CB today. I’ve thought several times today, that it is so balanced and well proportioned with the 39 mm case...

Great interview!

Thanks for giving us some more insight into FPj’s thought process. Can’t wait to see some of the new releases. Best

Thank you 😊

 By: ChristianDK : April 1st, 2019-19:59
I think there are some really exciting times coming up for FPJ fans

Could not agree more on the harmony of the 38 and 39 pieces’ dimensions Christian.

Thanks again for this very interesting insight into a (true/on merit) living legend’s approach. All the best, Alex

Great interview! Thanks Christian.

The 38mm issue I've asked him about before and the answer was the same, they just didn't sell. One cannot deny that being the case as for the watch buying public as a whole we know the majority seem to be on the larger side, 40mm and up. I'm very curious ...

Thank you, Jay for your kind words

I’m really thinking a lot about the new resonance as well. I didn’t hear about the brass being better before. Very interesting detail you mention. I did try to ask more about it but I feel he wanted to keep the details for SIHH, which is perfectly underst...

Great opportunity to hear insight from F.P. Journe. It is so rare to have a brand that is so pure in expressing one man's vision for what a wristwatch should be. It is made all the more special when that man has such technical mastery and the drive to inn...

thank you!!! I think Mr Journe made it easy for me because (its my impression) that he just speaks his mind. He has the mind of a highly skilled craftsman - so there needs to be a reason for the solutions chosen. This is combined with the curiosity of an ...

the cease of aluminium cases is due to their fragility or other issues ?

I heard it was because it turned yellow...

 By: ChristianDK : April 2nd, 2019-04:40
Hey George, my friend. Thank you Im guessing - a kind of corrosion? The moveneNts of the Line Sport are still made in Aluminium. But they had to replace aluminium with titanium for the caseS and bracelets.

thanks they replace the previously sold ones too?

 By: Passionata_george : April 2nd, 2019-05:03
and the balck ones corrodes too , sorry for 2many Qs

Not to many Q´s :-) :-)

 By: ChristianDK : April 2nd, 2019-05:31
but I have no idea if they replace them. Never heard about anything with the black ones. Perhaps someone else will chime in. Personally, Im thinking about picking up an Au despite the issues - I think they are super cool.

Thank you very much for sharing.

Discontinued?

 By: BlueIn2Red : April 18th, 2019-10:26
Do we have any more information on which watches were discontinued? I've heard some rumours that the CB is one - seems unlikely to me, but possible?

Enlightening and thoughtful interview

What a pleasure to read, and certainly answered the questions I had been wondering about.
