I haven’t posted any CB movement pics in a long time. I’m aware they are redundant. But I just felt like a few more wouldn’t annoy anyone. ...

When something looks this great ...

May I ask? Are FP Journe enthusiasts also Patek Philippe collectors?

 By: Robert65 : April 5th, 2020-15:38
Journe is an outrageously high end brand with ridiculously well made pieces. Do enthusiasts START with this brand or do they discover FPJ only after first started their journey at Patek?

In my experience very few start with FPJ, it's pretty much the end (or very close to it) of the rabbit hole...

I collected many more brands prior to stumbling across FPJ, and for me, it followed production volumes... firstly, Rolex, then Patek, A Lange & Sohne and then the world of smaller independents, like FPJ and Kari V. Now, my collecting focus is mostly on FP...

What IndieFan said.

The Journe collectors I know personally, or have a relationship with here on the Forum, all have come to the brand after many, many years in the desert. And quite a few, Like Indie above, end up collecting Journe exclusively, or almost exclusively. It see...

Is is generally held that FPJ finishing tops ALS (or PP)

 By: Robert65 : April 6th, 2020-13:10
And the only hand-finishing competition that FPJ has are from indies like Kari V?

No.

In fact, Journe finishing is not typically on the level of Voutilainen, or even Lange. Journe’s strength is in its chronometry. It’s all about making the best time keeper he can. And a lot of effort goes into making unique and attractive dials.

If you wanted to go even more independent that FP Journe - and not get too wild - what house would be your next step? Parameters: $75k or less, overall quality/hand finishing equal to Lange, with value-holding strength of Patek. Could you give me a top th...

Rexhep Rexhepi is a very intriguing!

Both the Chronometre Contemporaine and the AK06. Many thanks for introducing me to that brand. Do you know prices? I could not find that information. Also, what research can I do to determine how Rexhep watches hold their value? Many thanks!

The AK06 is in the ball park of your price about 79k chf for the steel model and 83k chf for the Ti

The CC I think is lower but not sure As for retaining value that is a question I don’t know the answer to as I haven’t yet seen any in the second market

There are so many, Robert.

Rexhepi is certainly a good suggestion. You could look at Laurent Ferrier, and Grönefeld. Both finish their watches impeccably.

Yes Gronefeld work are amazing [nt]
