"bespoke"

I think there might be some confusion on the meaning of the term "bespoke" here, which may also be why you are confused about the stamping on the strap.

FPJ OEM straps (the ones that come with the watch, or that you'll find sitting in the FPJ boutiques) are done by Multicuirs in Geneva, and they're all stamped with the FPJ logo in much the same way - along with Multicuirs' trademark "cousu main" stamp (meaning "hand stitched").

Anything you buy sitting in a store is technically "off the rack", which is the opposite of "bespoke".

So, I got that bespoke strap.

Boutique in Miami really took good care of me. They had one bespoke strap, and I got it for the Havana. It is a lovely dark matte brown, with nice light colored striations. Quite striking up close. They were so accommodating. Sent me videos and pictures o...

Very nice! [nt]

Works perfectly. [nt]

Thanks. The boutique staff recommended it to me.

I knew I wanted a different color than the honey, but couldn't place exactly what it should be. Boutique staff gave me lots of great options, and really pointed me in this direction. Credit to them. I like the dark matte brown. It just works.

It looks great!

And yes, the Miami boutique staff are great as well.

Uh ohā€¦ Am I finally falling for FPJ? This watch just blows me away...

For years now I've understood the quality we have hereā€”or at least fancied I did. But it has always been the hands that have kept his watches "at arms length," so to speak. Here we have a combination of elements that pushes me right past any reluctance th...

Thanks so much!

It really is something special when you see it. As you suggest, just the right amount of sprinkles in all the right places. I got the 40mm, and have just shy of a 7 1/4" wrist. Fits like a peach and I have to tell you, FPJs wear exceptionally well. I know...

Well, we share a wrist size, and I would go for the 40, no doubt. My ship has yet to come in (and it's getting late!) but when it does, I'm Havana bound!

Oh, but I do have a question. I'd suppose there is an article on the web somewhere, but perhaps you could just tell me how a solid gold movement is supposed to hold up over time. Please bear with my ignorance of metals, and of Journe's application of such...

I wish I could educate you!

 By: Swaye : June 6th, 2020-02:28
But I do not know the metallurgical aspects of the gold used in the movements. Perhaps one of our more knowledgeable members does know and will opine. I can tell you I have never heard one word of derision toward the movement or it's durability. In fact, ...

No concern on wear.

It is the plate and bridges that are made of 18 kt rose gold. Certainly stiff and ridged enough for this job. The parts that are subjected to wear, like gears, pinions ect Are still made of traditional materials such as brass or steel.

The boutique called it bespoke, as they had it made as a one off for a client who decided he didn't like the color.

 By: Swaye : June 8th, 2020-10:34
So I bought it. I assume they had it stamped FPJourne as well, but this isn't a standard strap for sale at Boutiques. Perhaps this doesn't meet the technical definition of bespoke. But it is a one of one in a custom color. At the end of the day I just lik...

No intent to take away from your enjoyment - just explaining why certain FPJ straps get certain embossing. Impressed that the Miami boutique didn't just make the orderer buy it (or prepay). IIRC it was over $600 for my last bespoke from Multicuirs. I'd fe...

No offense received my friend.

 By: Swaye : June 9th, 2020-06:16
Just trying to explain how it was "marketed" to me. I was also surprised the customer who ordered it wasn't asked strongly to buy it. Speaks to the good intentions of the folks in Miami. I am of course happy they declined, as it allowed me to swoop in and...

How is the Deployant vs Traditional buckle?

 By: Burgie : December 25th, 2023-08:41
Sorry I know this thread is years old. How much do you prefer the FPJ deployant over the traditional buckle? Iā€™m considering getting one for the Chronometre Bleu.

Either here or on TRF, but

You will find a post that shows an ingenious feature on the deployant clasp. When you twist the logo on the clasp it tightens the or loosens the strap; but the deployant buckle ainā€™t cheap šŸ˜‚

Thanks!

 By: Burgie : December 27th, 2023-02:19
Ya it is pretty pricey, but I do love a good deployant. The description you gave is very intriguing. Do you have the QR spring bars on your FPJ? Do they hit the case or impede the motion of the strap if you were to pull down the strap straight down 90 deg...

This watch would look great on any strap.

But itā€™s especially amazing on this deep brown. Wear it in good health!
