The WS for the 21st of October - ‘Size matters - your watch size sweet spot’ - is live
As I will be flying during the time of the regular start to WS Threads I decided to put up the post a bit earlier to ensure a timely, rather than delayed start to the proceedings.
The theme for the weekend, as announced earlier, will be ‘Size matters’ - i.e. what do you consider your sweet spot for watch size. There are many influences on that, from fashion, habit, personal history, not least wrist size (although burly men seemed to be dealing just fine with 30mm watches 50-70 years ago).
If you would add a comment for why a size range is your sweet spot, that would be appreciated, too. And for those on the extremes of the range, I will be curious to see what the largest and smallest will be this weekend.

Melt into your wrist. This week’s topic by KMII made me come to a realization, i cannot have it all. A new beautiful release which makes my heart flutter and wallet totally empty, may actually turn out to be a misfitting piece.

Simply find your watch line-up great, the Breguet, the H2 Chrono (which was part of a Monochrome project, if I remember) and that georgeous VH are sublime pieces, so well in their proportions. Well done ! 🙂👍

Funny that - for me the 58 is the only BB that works on my wrist 🤷🏻♂️ The original size is too chunky, the 36 looks oddly small, while the 39 decidedly too large - go figure 😊 Some superb pieces in your post 🙌🏻👌🏻

Dear KM, through the years, I realise just reading the size is not sufficient to determine the sweet spot as the case and lug designs will determine whether it sits well on the wrist.
On that consideration, sizes of 41mm or even bigger can look fine without the lugs extending way beyond my wrist. For this purpose, I will show those big but still work because of overall design : ...

... the more "normal" sizes of other times. Guess that 36/38 mm to 40/42 mm is a very practical size. Panerai is the only exception I like due to the fact that the 47 mm case is part of the DNA of the brand. Anyway I feel the 44 and 42 sizes of this brand...

Now that’s certainly something not seen every day - amazing piece and good to see it fits so well in spite of the content requiring a large size 👌🏻👍🏻
While I enjoy watch ranging from 37mm to 47mm in my collection, my preferences have evolved overtime with my preferred range now being 38-40mm in general as I tend to gravitate more toward classic looking dress watch which can be dressed down!
I still enjoy wearing my 47mm PAMs occasionally and my 42mm Rolex Explorer II, but most of my wear time is more 38-40 … here are a few pictures… But again it is still fun to wear bigger on the week-end HAGWE! ...

For my 16.75cm wrist,
I’d say between 33 and 37mm for a classic timepiece, can go (in some cases) up to 39/49mm for a sports / tool watch but no further. I guess it also depends on your wrist bone structure.
The bone structure will certainly have an influence 👍🏻

Harboring Seiko’s thinnest mechanical movement at 1,98mm. The movement has been in use (in some form) since the 60s, nowadays fitted only to Credors. And for added fun, a rare shaped movement in a round case 😉
