Some toys from my trip to Deutschland

Guten abend my fellow PuristS Friends!

Wishing everyone and all my chinese friends especially a Happy Mid-Autumn's festival!

How was the moon in your side of the planet?

Anyways, i'd like to share with you all some catch of my European trip.

Now i have mentioned before that I used to be a fanatic collector of model aircraft from the German maker Herpa, but stopped quite a while ago. ( I will say that I still own more Herpa's than watches though...)

The main reason that I stopped purchasing them, well it's all due to a few factors. I shan't go into details for them cause they arent that important.

ANyways, this time i got 2 very very special models ( at least to me they are), and here they are in glorious photos!

1st up, we have the Solar Impulse, which does have some connection to the watch world, as the project is being funded partially by Omega. The SOlar Impulse is a lightweight plane ( more akin to a glider) that is powered entirely by solar energy, and is designed to do a circumnavigation of the world! And actually, if not due to human limitations ( of the pilot and his other 1 man crew), it could technically just go round and round the globe forever! And the good thing about this vehicle, is that it collects enough energy during daylight, and can continue to be powered even during hours of darkness! So this is one solar angel not limited only to the day! Now, it's actually not that i am that interested in this model, but you know what caught my eyes?!

It is "MADE IN GERMANY" PEOPLE!!!!!!!

In my entire lifetime of collecting Herpa, and other plane models, i can almost dare confess that i have NEVER had nor seen one model that is "Made in Germany". For Herpa's, they generally don't explicitly write where their products are made in, but most collectors know that they are the standard for models and toys "Made in China", which i really dont mean to offend any chinese citizens here on the purists, but well its kinda akin to if our favourite watches were "Made in China" ( abbreviated to MIC from now on).

In any case, I personally have a thing against MIC, and i prefer for everything of mine, be it clothes, or even the models to NOT be MIC.

And before i start firing up people's anger, let's just get on to the models shall we?

Here they are!

Oh yes, before i forget, the 2nd model is MIC, BUT i got it solely cause it is a Lufthansa A 380.

As if i would miss the to-be-flagship of my fav airline, it's akin to me NOT getting a minute repeater from Lange. Hahaha

Enjoy!

Tschuss & Guten Nacht!

Stephen

I have NEVER EVER SEEN A HERPA MODEL SAID AS EXPLICITLY AS THEY HAVE HERE THAT this model is Made in Germany. Btw, they even print this on all 4 sides of the box, as if to tell you in case you forgot or are blind to miss a side.

A total of 40hp, and yet able to travel forever?! Man kudos to these guys!

I had to fix that needle personally...

The cockpit of a "Made in Germany" Herpa folks.... I dont know what the "wow" factor is for you guys, and gal ( my fav female friend Daos!) BUT, for me it's like, wow wowow wowowowowowowoowwo, u get what i mean...

These turbine blades actually spin if you place a wind source over them ( e.g. over an air-con inlet, or the simplest, just blow over them with your mouth, and they spin like crazy)

You can see thorough over them and from the front, VS, it's like a totaly real aircraft!

Since they are of the same scale, this is how they would measure up in reality....

Hope you all enjoyed it !

Tschuss & Danke!

Stephen
