So here comes the new Alpine A 110R.
I heard some rumors about an extreme Alpine some months ago. And what I just read was conform to what I heard: An Alpine with 34 kilos removed, and some carbon parts here and there. And that the power would not change ( 300 HP / 340 Nm ).
What I didn't know was that it would get some specific suspensions, adjustable, able to lower the chassis from 10 to 20 mm, compared to the S.
With the new aerodynamic settings, the max speed is higher: 285 Km/h ( instead of 275 for the S with the carbon rear spoiler and front lip )., 3, 9 seconds for the 0 to 100 Km/h, and the 0 to 1000 meters in 21, 9 seconds.
There are some specific details I like a lot: The front hood, in carbon, with two front air intakes. The air diffusor in carbon and the specific wheels, in carbon, too. Note that the front wheels are different from the rear wheels.And the new exhaust line.
No more retro view, as the rear glass is in carbon, now.
The Sabelt seats are specific to this model, more radical, in carbon. And the cool, very cool racing doors.
I would have preferred the wheels to be the same than those on the front.
And well, with another color than in blue, the body. With all these carbon parts, a grey paint would look better, in my opinion.
So, all in all, some excellent ideas, here, A bit more power ( 320 HP, for example ) and a bit more torque ( 380 Nm ) would have been more consistent with this lightweight radical A110.

...kind of odd setting it in Japan, but still really cool. This might be a bit hard-core for a daily driver. It's too bad they don't sell this brand in the U.S. It's a really beautiful car : )
The Japan photos are due to the fact that they will unveil it in Suzuka, the F1 track this week-end.
Yes, a bit hard core due to the lack of rear view because of the carbon rear glass... But other than that, even if the suspensions are tougher, I think it is doable to drive in on a daily basis. Best, mon ami. Nicolas

Is the carbon rear glass only for the purpose of dropping weight? Isn’t the inability to see behind you through a back window problematic, even on a track? (assuming with other cars)
It’s otherwise a beautiful car. Too bad not an option in the US market.
Very cool, amazing they still found places to shave weight, love the commitment of deleting the rear window with a carbon hatch, though I wonder at what cost. Carbon fiber wheels aren't cheap...
Its great the manufacturers are taking cars to the extreme and almost embracing the modder culture by offering OEM alternatives. Maybe I'm getting old but I guess I'm not that extreme anymore, I like that this exists but I'd rather have a more street frie...
I'm with you on this approach, love what you've done with your Alpine! I'm the same, other than wheels all my car mods can't be seen ;)
Though I'm getting soft and starting to like interior upgrades. I can't see exposed carbon fiber if I'm driving the car but little interior trim upgrades are nice when sitting in traffic.
And this is not the end. I am, right now, at around 90%. There is still some work to do, such as a discreet lip on the front, a more efficient fuel pump, and the rest is all about the interior...
A red burgundy leather for the seats and steering wheel, and a grey Alcantara for the door panels and the roof... And that's it! The only thing I am still debating is ultra light wheels... Best, Nicolas

As for the wheels I think there must be a technical reason why they did this, probably the rear wheels get more of a beating than the ones on the front axle ... design wise it's cool to have different wheels but it would have been nicer if they were equal...
The different wheels are due to an aerodynamic reason. Now, aesthetically, I prefer having the same wheels on the front and rear, of course. As for the comparison with the Alonso edition, I prefer this one.
The Alonso, you will pay it 43 K euros more for a different setting of the suspensions ( which I don't really care as those of the R are enough for me, and I prefer having my own setting ), and for some aesthetic differences which I don't like ( the rear ...
Not sure if I will ever get one.
For the moment .. and the coming years .. it simply doesn't fit my purposes or way of living .... and then there still is the 205 GTI to be considered ;-)
