Reference 2598 … less frequently seen

 

Two less frequently seen Girard-Perregaux Cushion Case watches.

38 mm steel











case.

30 pieces made of the black dial.

50 pieces made of the blue dial.

Both made circa 2001 … so neo-vintage.

Not bad for 20 year old watches.☺️

GP has not made any cushion case watches since then.

These watches have 6 hands. And the 4 central hands are hours, minutes, and chronograph seconds and the red arrow hand is for the chronograph minutes.

The subdial right is for small seconds.

The subdial left is for a 24 hour/am-pm indicator.

Both have applied breguet numbers.

Charming. I don’t know why the brands stopped making chronographs with central minutes hand. Such a useful way to help our aging eyes...

And between my brother and I, have have several variants of the 2598. Thickness is 13 mm. It’s stepped so, never felt it to be a thick watch either. The lugs taper to conform with the wrist. It’s quirky cool IMHO. I have yet to meet a person who didn’t li... 

Wonderful watches. And yes, 13mm and the stepped structure means no problem to slide it under the sleeve shirt. Best.
