you can see the increased thickness of the guard itself....

A closer inspection on the actual polishing should give a better idea whether this is a production defect or deformation due to impact. I guess a trip to the service centre is in short order?
You'll have to inspect that bump on the crown guard closely
Either way, since your piece is a Shadow piece, I wouldn't be surprised if the defect was there already since there are only 2 options on how this defect go there: a) crown guard experienced a bump against something hard that resulted in that indentation....
