Land Rover BAR Team chose Zenith as time keeper to bring back the America's Cup to the UK!

On the occasion of the firyt ever America's Cup race in Asia, the Land Rover BAR sailing team announced on 17 November 2016, that it has chosen Zenith as their official time keeper in their mission to challenging for Britain and bringing the America's Cup back home to where it all began in 1851. The press conference was held in in Fukuoka, Japan, alongside the final race in the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series.

The Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR) is a pofessional sailing team that has been composed by Sir Ben Ainslie, a four times Olympic gold medalist and 34th America's Cup winner, with some of the best British and international sailors, designers, builders and racing support. The team was launched in 2014 in the presence of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge in an effort to secure, for the first time ever, a Britsh victory in the presitigous America's Cup.

Zenith's President and CEO Aldo Magada is particularly delighted about the shared emphasis on technology and performance embedded in toths partnership: “At Zenith we are proud and honoured to be partnering with Land Rover BAR as the logical continuation of our global partnership launched last September in Paris with Land Rover. This is a fantastic project that will witness the convergence of our experience in terms of innovation and technology. We can’t wait to start to work with Sir Ben and his team! Sailing connoisseurs can expect plenty of surprises, stemming from the combined expertise of two avant-garde actors sharing the same philosophy of excellence and precision.”

Likewise, BAR's Skipper and Principal, Ben Ainslie, commented, “Zenith’s reputation for quality and precision makes them the perfect fit for Land Rover BAR, and we’re delighted that they are joining our quest to bring the Cup home."

Ben Ainslie and the sailing team will all become global brand ambassadors, styling the El Primero Sport model. The 45 mm-diameter steel case houses the famous El Primero 400 B automatic chronograph, with a movement featuring an integrated column-wheel construction and beating at a cadence of 36,000 vibrations/hour.

Quite conincidentially and without any insider knowledge, I have last week published my review on the very watch which will sport the wrist of Sir Ben and his BAR team from now on - please click here !

Oh, and there is something to really look forward to as Sir Ben mentioned as a side note: "We have been working with Zenith to capture the essence of this challenge, and we look forward to launching the Land Rover BAR El Primero in a few months time.”

Stay tuned!

Magnus
