Lady Luck do smile when she wants to..
Timing couldn’t be more perfect as I’m retiring in a couple of weeks after almost 38 years in the industry. I’ve always had this notion that a nice gold watch to mark the occasion would be most appropriate.
Visions of the YG Sub with blue dial and nipple hour markers invaded my sleep... A worthy addition to a bucket list for some here I think. Alas, the 16808 had left the station a long while ago.
And so earlier this week, the AD rep texted me with some good news! With a fellow Purists accompanying me (thank you kind sir!), I pulled the trigger. Not exactly a 16808... but worthy of any collection imho and marks my retirement very nicely.

I must agree with you... the oysterflex downplays the watch to the uninitiated. Quite similar to the 5167/5164 imo.

The wg is a few shades warmer than steel and the sunburst dial does give a certain warm glow overall imo.
