that my parents made a 2-week roadtrip through france, lucky retirees... wink But being the great parents that they are they brought some souvenirs with them:

What a selection, I haven't even tried Taittinger champagne yet, despite them being a long-time sponsor of the Aston Martin Owner's Club. That will have to change soon. Also, the one item I have no clue about is those Croquignoles - a type of sweet snack?... 

Taittinger is a great Champagne, IMHO much better than the "obvious" candidates where you pay more fore the name than for the quality.

I can also highly recommend Bollinger! Croquignoles are indeed a sweet snack - I would say a kind of elongated meringue but the French members here can surely give a better explanation than me.

You are right, they were in Normandie and Bretagne and finished der Trip in Alsace. What a lovely trip, I would have loved to join them but maybe we make a big 3-generation vacation in France next year.

Keep me posted if you come.

This looks like a real treasure. Champagne and Foie Gras, boxes of sweets and caramels, calvados, bottles and bottles of cider, sweet wine from Montbazillac. Seems not much left to buy in France if we ever decide to go there, lucky you!

Let´s hope our French friends are quick in restocking their food supplies! ;)

They travelled by car with their estate wagon - otherwise it would have been a logistical problem! ;)

I will definitely let you know the next time I visit. I normally have a habit of overeating at the bread cart at Steirereck Wien and not being able to finish the rest of my meal. That's what happens when you have eyes bigger than your stomach!
