Horsepower ....
Hi my fellow automotive-Purist friends
!
A few weeks ago my perception of speed started to change (i thought) ... i had a gobsmacking experience on the Ducati Panigale experiencing nice fluent rides but most of all astonishing accelerations ... imagine holding on to the handlebars in fear of being thrown off ... in 4th and 5th gear ... should give you an idea.
The bike shown here is the ultimate version of that bike .. the Superleggerra boosting 205 hp for a kern weight of around 150 kilos ...
It also made me realize how vulnerable petrol heads become when you see this BMW ... anyone have a guess ? It's a thin line between having just some fun and serving jail time .... and a huge fine ....
Sooo time for the Bim to go incognito !
The 300 hp Golf R seemed slow .. but it wasn't ... i must say the guy you see on the right knew how to handle it

.... i had BIG issues with the fake noises but mostly with the variable electric steering .... it really confused me ... but i guess you have to get used to it ... steering was WAAAAY to heavy though ...
The 196 hp of the X-type (they feel like 140 or so ...

...) don't seem to make me happy by the looks on my face ... but i do like the lazy character of the car as a whole ... it gives me peace ...
Kinda like this pic ...
The 204 hp 911 doesn't really give you a lot of thrills, maybe partly because it's not my car and i really have to be very careful ... but it brings a big smaile to my face every time i drive it ... .
I had to carry a lot of stuff in my 102 hp VW Transporter ... luckily the 250 Nm of torque really get me going faster than most cars out there ... i must admit i just put the needle at 60 mph on the autobahn ... on twisty roads this is actually fun to drive thanks to the smooth engine, great steering feel and relatively good roadholding ... it's a base version so weight is quite low at around 1700 kilos ... .
After that Panigale ride a 'common' ducati 996 seemed pretty slow with just 130 hp ... though i like the oldskool way of riding

... fast ...
So back in the 'truck' and taking some time to admire my Allstars ...
Some of you might wonder were i left the dog

.. no worries my animal-friends ... i took him out from time to time ...
I even made a bit of time to make a LLD-stack ... LOL ....
... and to inspect my fathers vegetable-garden ...
... and to plant around 30 concrete-things weighing around 50 kilos a piece each ... well, my 77 year old father insisted on helping me ( he did most of the work ...) ...
Back to the rolling part of this post ... yeses .. Renault-days at Spa ... and it's beloved (or hated) Raidillon ...
Rallye legend Jean Ragnotti was so kind to autograph my car .... what an honor
Aaah, a real F1 .. with a screaming V8 engine ....
Waiting for the Redbull car ...
A fellow Purist competing in Formula Renault 2000 ...
We couldn't resist off course ...
Hey !!! Did somebody steal my car ?
Back to horsepower .....
It doesn't matter how many horses (or camels) someone offers you ... but the 300 SL wipes all those needs into the bin ...
But alas, back to reality ... i had to drive this 476 hp E 55 dragster ... and i did like it ... especially the sound of that crazy compressor !
But in the end .... (all these horses are nice) ... can 200 horses make your heart pound like crazy ?
The AWESOME Mini you see here might have been awesome, but i fear for the driver ....
... though the 2 cars you see here probably had the most fun last sunday ... on the most amazing roads i have ever encountered in my own country ... the "trashing" was quite extreme and the guy in the black Mini with 'only' 184 hp was the only one that managed to keep up with us (except for the last 5 miles when things were beginning to get out of hand) ... so next time he will attend this little event with his GT3 RS

... i have NO doubts we will NOT be able to follow him
I hope you enjoyed this photo-session and hope to be back asap with another story ...
Bim
... must search for new tires, brake-pads and shock-absorbers now ......
