Chopard Fair 2018: Red Carpet 2018 Cannes Secrets event

I was fortunately invited to the event held at the recently opened "Tokyo Station Hotel", which is literally IN the Tokyo Station building.

Subtitle of the event is:
"A Day of Mystery, Fantasy and Timeless Festivity"

This is to let people remind of the "Secret Night Party" hosted by Caroline Scheufele - Co-President of the brand, during the Cannes Festival 2018.

So, mainly high-jewelry clients were there while men's watch room was also plenty of space and lots of goodies although smaller than the room for lady's items.....

So, these are the hosts - on the left is the former Chopard Japan General Manager and current Head of Chopard Asia (stationed in Singapore - so there must be a lot of PuristS who know him well), Mr. Stephen Ritzmann, and on the right is current Chopard Japan General Manager, Mr. Thomas Dobeli.  So nice to see you again, Mr. Ritzmann, and thank you both so much for inviting me!

The log design for this event is pretty well made - it's 20th anniversary of partnership between Cannes Festival and Chopard - thus, "20" of "2018" implies that.  And "8" of "2018" is used as "S" in "Secrets".

This is the corridor to the banquet room.  Makes me feel like a celebrity (NOT!).

The same or similar model used by Kate Blanchett and such great actresses.....

Yes, for sale, of course....

Now, this is the one.  This year's Palm d'Or - awarded to Japanese film/ Director.  Again, congratulations!

So, finally arrived at the "Secret Garden" room.  Many high-end clientele were taking pictures here, but I am a mere "ordinary" person, so I declined smile)

Beautiful Butterfly Rings.

Zooming in, I found mice!

Well, in the lady's item room, there was a VIP booth and I was kindly allowed to stay here while Mr. Ritzmann/ Mr. Dobeli were too busy to take care of clients.

Nice setting.  In the display boxes far away were high jewelry as well as lady's watches.

Now, we are talking.  This is men's watch room.  Again, this room means to remind us of the "Chopard Gentlemen's Evening 2018" during the Cannes Festival.

L.U.C Lunar One Black Tie.

So beautiful that I took many pics smile  Please pardon me.  Nice blue color on the moonphase subdial.

The date could be a bit bigger, though....  Otherwise, very legible even for aging eyes of mine.

Also, basic of the basic.  L.U.C XPS.  On the left, orange one was a part of trio set - "Chopard L.U.C XPS in Champagne, Bordeaux and Cognac"

Today's L.U.C XPS Platinum has Geneve Seal on the movement as well as on the case.

Through the display box glass - L.U.C Time Traveler One

L.U.C GMT One

Ah, and this is the one I saw in New York boutique visit first.  Report below.  Please click!

Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Giorgio Speciale

Legibility is good enough.

So light.

D-Buckle is opened by pushing the buttons on the both sides.

Now, here are the Lady's watches.  Without much narrative and specs, I just was awed by the design and craftsmanship.....

With flower design in/ on the MOP base, it must be really tough to make one.  I just said to myself - there must be so low test passing for this dial.  And the assistant to Mr. Dobeli said, "if we care about the loss ratio, we wouldn't think of creating this one from the start".  Makes sense!

As a bonus, this is a mechanical watch!!!  Nice....

So, this was the really tiny fraction of all exhibited at the event, but hope this get you some sense of what the "Secret Party" was like at Cannes.....  Gosh, I wish I would be there one day.... smile)

Again, thank you, Mr. Ritzmann, and Mr. Dobeli, as well as all the Chopard Japan staff!

Best,
Ken
