Very few cars that are as popular as the Corvette garner as much hatemail. Maybe because it does sports car things so well at such an affordable price? Because of the demographics of an overwhelming portion of its driver / owners?
Fun fact: many Corvettes are driven the way they were intended - aggressively and at high speeds. In fact many are class leaders on the track.
But many are always on offer as well, with very low miles for their model year. Which means they were garage queens...
I have some seat time in the C6 and was treated to a canyon blast in the C7 Carbon Edition. Though butt in seat time wasn't nearly enough for me to make serious commentary (I really dont believe in coming across as an expert with a 30 minute blast up and then back one canyon or mountain road) I can say that, given my limited seat time pushing the car 6/10th when I was behind the wheel, and 7/10 in the passenger seat with an auto journalist friend at the wheel, the grip is impressive and the acceleration exciting.
The Corvette has always tempted me, "for the price" but I make a conscious effort to avoid pulling the trigger on anything until I can remove the qualifier, "for the price" from the statement, "it's a great car." (Or watch)
The following pictures are of the C7 Carbon edition when we went to play in the tunnels of Angeles Crest Highway.
