Catch of the day - Omega Memomatic

Team,

Here is the result of today's flea market hunt.

An Omega Memomatic (I need to check the movement number to determine the approximate manufacture date), from the 70's.

This watch was reviewed by Marv in June 2009 - omega.watchprosite.com 6

Suffices to say that the Memomatic was an attempt by Omega to produce a "better Memovox" by adding extra features like the ability to set the hour and the minute of the alarm, with the alarm being powered by the automatic rotor etc.

Mine is on, let's say, reasonable shape. The case was polished but the dial and hands seems to be fine.

Here are some pics:

Notice the coincidence. Today is 27th and Marv's watch was also set on the 27th!!

Now I need to do some homework:

1) Replace the bracelet by a nice leather (gray?) strap. Nice point is that the lug size is 22mm and I have many straps with this size.

2) Even with the Memo working perfectly I plan to send it to a full cleaning/oiling (as I do with all of my watches) and to replace the crystal (the current one does not have the Omega logo).

For me is a true keeper.

Cheers,

Nilo
