Calling all Sub fans

I love Submariners. I love Seadwellers. I love Daytonas. I have a GMT that i adore too. In fact, across the Rolex range, there are many watches that I adore wearing. However, my love for Rolex is very much about the diversity that it brings. For my personal bias, there is nothing better in Rolex-world than a black dial Paul Newman. Its my favourite Rolex. However, compare that with something like a DRSD. They are such different watches. However, there are times when a PN is just perfect, and  other times when a DRSD gives me a huge kick. Its the variety that makes it work so well in the collection. I believe it is why many collectors start of with a view off collecting 5-6 watches, but soon see their collection rise to 10-20, and more. I really believe that it is the variety that creates that special feel to a collection. And it is in this light that I am sharing my latest addition. I could not begin to give a better review of this watch than the one pasted below from Nico. It gives a real feel for the watch. So i attach it here.

However, I am going to add to Nico's comments. The Tudor Submariner does something different to my collection. There is no watch that is in the Rolex collection that can match what this MN achieves. For a start, it is a military watch used by the French navy. Now, of course, there are a number of "grail" Rolex that have been used by the military, but it still marks the Tudor as unusual. Second, the snowflake dial marks the Tudor as quirky and different to the Mrecedes variation. Again, its the difference that makes the difference! Third, there is that blue dial. I think i cannot under-estimate the attraction of that dial. Most of my vintage watches have a black or white dial. The blue dial makes this watch so easy to wear casually..... hot summer day, blue jeans, tee-shirt...and the MN. Just looks great. But while it is so easy to wear casually, it still has this military background that makes it highly unusual.

Nicolas suggested that over time, these MNs would become grail-like, akin to the Rolex milsub. I appreciate that there is a difference between the Tudor and the Rolex. However, as a variation of the Submariner the MN is a superb addition to my collection. It gives me enormous pleasure, and i thoroughly recommend it to anyone who loves Rolex Subs. It is a difference that enhances the colelction for sure.

I am very happy to own one. But i also want to add that the way that one buys a watch can make a great difference to the feeling too. Spending time in Paris, leisurely lunch and new friends. It is indeed what watch collecting is about too.
