.. 6,2 litres ... LOL ... those Americans are nuts ... 6200 cc they call a small block :-) , when i tell people over here we have a 2 litre and 2,5 litre petrol they look at me as if i'm coming from Mars ... errr ... don't i ? Actually around 82 % over he...

Hi Bim, The current C6 Corvet te fuel consumption stats are 2 6mpg highway / 16mpg city. Not bad for a 6.2L V8 engine. Can't wait to see the new C7 Corvette. As for other environmental stats: environmental performance ....blah, blah, blah, .... global war...  

....horrid skip-shift 'feature' - the one that can force a 1 to 4 shift at low throttle openings? The old Pontiac GTO used to have that, frustrated the hell out of me.

Hi BDLJ, You bring up an interesting function on the C6 Corvette (and I guess it's standard across the Chevrolet line). The 6 speed manual gearbox does has the CAGS 1 to 4 shift that you mention, however it's common for C6 drivers to get the shift elimina... 

...there might be an easy work-around for that shifting lock-out. Not that I'm ever likely to own a Corvette, but nice to know. I don't know what other cars have it but it's supposedly some sort of way to game the mpg numbers. So I think it's only fitted ... 

Are you actually saying that the manual box can change from 1st to 4th automatically or have i misunderstood?

...tootling along at revs and low throttle openings and lowish speed (not sure exactly how the algorithm works) the car decides you aren't in a mood to trash it. So it locks you out of 2nd and 3rd. You can only change from 1st directly to 4th. Which works... 

Oh right. It sounds like it works a bit like an auto with fly by wire adaptive throttle which changes through 2 3 4 to 5 quickly if you arent using much throttle. Sounds like not much fun in a manual though.

...(I think) As you wrote, on an Auto it'd just run you through the gears until it gets to a nice high one. This system literally locks the gates into 2nd and 3rd. Disconcerting.

I'll avoid that then. Not hard for me to do :)

Hi Art, No regrets at all, I love my C6. I knew about the C7 and already have one on order. I still have time to pick final interior and exterior colors, but still undecided for now. Regards, ED-209 ...
