Individual Calendars on the Wrist
Senator Complete Calendar and Senator Calendar Week
After last year?s successful introduction of the new Senator line featuring
its own Caliber 100, the Glashütte Original manufactory is extending this
line with two new models: Senator Calendar Week and Senator Complete
Calendar. Pursuing the aspect of contemporary zeitgeist, the new models once
again embody fine German watchmaking in its highest form of precision and
functionality. With these models, the German watch manufactory is completing
its choice of calendar variations, including all those found in the world of
haute horlogerie: Beginning with the Senator Panorama Date, continuing to
the new Senator Complete Calendar and Senator Calendar Weeks, and ending
with the absolute showpiece, the Senator Perpetual Calendar.
Taking the needs of a modern business traveler into consideration,
the
designers developed the Senator Calendar Week. This noble timekeeper allows
its wearer to inform him- or herself of the current calendar week, date, and
day of the week at just one glance. A large window underneath the 12 o?clock
marker provides information about the calendar week in red numerals. The
display was designed according to the same principle as that of Glashütte
Original?s characteristic panorama date. The hand at 8 o?clock, across from
the panorama date at 4 o?clock, tells the observer the current day of the
week.
The design of the calendar week module, developed especially for this model,
is technically demanding. The calendar week change always takes place on
Sunday night with the week wheel turning one tooth further. During every
change, the spring storing the energy is tensioned one-sixtieth in order to
save up enough energy for the big change that occurs at the end of the year.
The change from calendar week 53 to 01 takes place when calendar week ?54?
is next on the list. A release opens the stored energy and the week wheel
turns the seven steps necessary to get to calendar week 01. In order to
guarantee a gentle turning of the display disk, Caliber 100-05 was
additionally outfitted with a centrifugal force brake.
The individual displays are set by correctors found on the case
sides. The
cumulative corrector offers the advantage of moving all displays, including
the date, the day of the week, and the calendar week, forward one step at
once. Furthermore, the individual correctors offer the opportunity of
individually setting each display.
Keeping the manufactory?s own tradition in mind, Glashütte Original
presents
another exclusive timekeeper of the Senator line. For people who need to
know the time and date even more precisely, the new Senator Complete
Calendar offers an interesting alternative. Along with the manufactory?s
characteristic panorama date, this lavish model offers a moon phase display
and hand indications for the day and month in the upper half of the dial.
The Senator Complete Calendar thus makes a quick gleaning of all current
calendar information possible, and the wearer can comfortably set the
displays using individual correctors.
Like most of the models in this classic watch line, the new variations are
also outfitted with innovative Caliber 100, housed in a high-polished case.
The large displays and narrow bezel offer an optimal view of the cleanly
designed silver-colored dials. Matching the case variations, handmade,
integrated Louisiana crocodile skin straps in black and antique brown are
available. A big extra is the high-quality link bracelet made of stainless
steel or rose gold that was created especially for these models and that can
be fitted to the watch.
