Right after their superb victory in Friday’s coastal race in Nice, Spindrift Racing wins the 38th Tour de France à la Voile, last Saturday, while regatta day in nautical stadium had to cancel all water activities due to difficult windy conditions preventing them to keep moving forward. But fast and unsteady proved to win the race.
ZENITH, AS OFFICIAL TIMEKEEPER OF SPINDRIFT TEAM, IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT SPINDRIFT RACING WON THE TOUR DE FRANCE À LA VOILE 2015
And the winner of the Tour de France à la Voile 2015 is: Spindrift racing
It’s exactly what Spindrift Racing had done during this Tour de France. Never taken down, but sometimes tossed around, the crew composed by Xavier Revil, François Morvan, Thierry Douillard, Matthieu Vandame and Fred Moreau had often faced highs, and occasionally lows. Their beginning of the Tour was particularly hard: 14th in the coastal race at Fécamp, they ended 8th in Pornichet. Pushed into 4th place of the ranking, the Men in Black shook themselves and, on a winning streak, François Morvan steered hard during the Roscoff coastal race, and the nautical stadium. A new victory during the Sables d’Olonne race, then another one in Roses, followed by a 2nd place in the Catalan nautical stadium enabled the black Diam to catch up with the leader, trapped by unpredictable winds in Costa Brava (19th).
Zenith, proud partner, congratulates the whole Spindrift crew on this wonderful achievement!
ZENITH
Founded in Le Locle in 1865 by a visionary watchmaker, Georges Favre-Jacot, the Manufacture Zenith gained swift recognition for the precision of its chronometers with which it has won 2,333 chronometry prizes in a century and a half of existence: an absolute record in terms of pocket watches, onboard timers and wristwatches. Having earned fame thanks to its legendary El Primero calibre – an integrated automatic column-wheel chronograph movement launched in 1969 and endowed with a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour that ensures short-time measurements accurate to the nearest 1/10th of a second – the Manufacture Zenith has since developed over 600 movement variations. Each one featuring a Manufacture movement, Zenith watches are developed and produced in Le Locle. This Manufacture currently stands at the exact spot where its founder built the first company workshop, thereby physically embodying a continuity that is a rarity in itself.
