In the world of luxury watch collecting, the emotional connection to a timepiece can be as significant as its horological merit. aperna, a respected member of the WatchProSite community, recently shared a personal dilemma that resonates with many collectors: whether to part with a Laurent Ferrier watch that has caused service frustrations, for a highly desired Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time. His post sparked a lively discussion, exploring the complex interplay of brand loyalty, service experiences, and the pursuit of horological satisfaction.

I just found out that my LF finally returned back from service. It’s located in Boston right now with the A.D. honestly, I’ve lost faith in this company I’ve always wanted a VC overseas dual time and my A.D. was able to source one for me which I may be able to get by the end of this month.

Should I make the trade?

Thanks Tony

I would do the trade, Tony. You won't be sorry. Not exactly the same model you are looking at, but I have the latest 4500V blue dial.

I love it and it get the most wrist time of all my watches. A big plus are the straps that come with it and the quick changing of them. Looking forward to pictures.

Now i have also a dilemma

For you Tony. A LF is nice, but Overseas is a huge killa for many powa. Calling a VC Overseas gmt, oh goodness, what a nice watch is that! I can image me with an Overseas, a nice dial, a killa complication, and a look through case back, and an easy release rubber strap/leather. It would be a miracle. Hitting grail watch levels.

Yes, make the trade.

I have read your previous posts on the LF, and for whatever reason, your specific timepiece has not been correct. In my personal experiences, when that happens, it's hard to ever depend on the piece or brand. I went through multiple nightmares with my Montblanc 1858 LE (and by my count at least 10 of the 100 blue dials had movement failures). There was no way I could keep that watch moving forward, and after months of a horrible service process, I dumped it immediately while it actually worked.

That is a real dilemma

I wish I could say something helpful. What I will say is that I'm a friend of that same AD and that I'm not at all surprised to hear they're working hard for you!

I am in the minority camp, I would keep it. And give it a last chance.
